ID Card for Colorado

To apply for a Colorado ID is a similar process as getting a driver license, but you don’t need to go through all the testing.

It is necessary to have a legal photo document with you almost all the time; an ID is an alternative to your driver’s license. You will realize that an ID is necessary when it comes to writing checks, boarding an aircraft or using a credit card. Also if you run into an emergency your ID helps to identify you to notify relatives quickly.

Note: You cannot hold both a driver license and ID card

To obtain a Colorado ID you need to go to a driver’s license office and present:

  • Present two forms of ID
  • Proof of age
  • Proof of legal presence
  • Proof of name
  • Proof of Social Security Number(in case you issued one)

In case the applicant is under 18, a parent or guardian has to go with applicant in person and sign the affidavit of age and must provide identification and proof that he or she is the minor's legal parent or guardian.
